A. No, Your entitlement has been reduced by 40%, however there is a small supplementary charge to cover the 40% reduction by ACC.
Q. How many treatments are required for my condition?
A. This question is almost impossible to answer without a consultation. There are various factors that can influence the course of treatment such as:
- the severity of the injury
- whether there are any complications
- whether it is a first time injury or a chronic problem
- the type of structure injured (muscle, tendon, joint, ligament, etc.)
- the time between the initial injury (or symptoms) and the first physiotherapy treatment
- diligence in following a home exercise programme
- the long term goal – return to work, return to sport, etc.
All these factors can influence the length of the course of physiotherapy. Given that no two people are the same there is a pretty complicated scenario to determine. Your physiotherapist should be able to give you an estimate once he or she completes the initial assessment of your injury.
